Course Overview
The BSB51319 Diploma of Work, Health and Safety has been designed for supervisors and managers who possess and apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts on a regular basis.
These individuals play an important role in ensuring the safety of a variety of stakeholders including employees, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and the general public

Duration: 12- 24 months subject to completion of assessments

Delivery: Online and workplace-based projects

Cost: Standard enrolment fee of $6,500 per person

Course Information
Individuals coordinating and maintaining the work health and safety (WHS) program in an organisation. The qualification applies to supervisors and managers who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.
Students are required to:
- Be 15 years of age or over at the time of course commencement
- Provide evidence of Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency
- Provide proof of identity, Photo ID
- Have completed Australian Year 10 or equivalent
All students are required to complete a brief Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) self-assessment (and, if needed, an LLND Assessment Test) as part of the enrolment process. This helps ensure the course is a good fit and that you have the skills needed to successfully participate. Where appropriate, support options may be discussed based on your results.
Students must have completed all BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety core units or equivalent competencies. Equivalent competencies are predecessors to the following units which have been mapped as equivalent.
BSBWHS412 Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws BSBWHS413 Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes
BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management
BSBWHS415 Contribute to implementing WHS management systems
BSBWHS416 Contribute to workplace incident response.

Learners need access to suitable technology to complete the course. This includes a laptop, desktop computer, or another device with a reliable internet connection and browsing capabilities and word processing programs like Word and spreadsheet applications such as Excel, as well as an installed PDF Reader.
Students will also need regular access to a laptop, desktop computer or device with an adequate camera to undertake video calls/recordings for assessments as required.
This qualification will be delivered through blended delivery including online and workplace-based learning.
NSW and ACT
12 – 24 months subject to completion of assessments (up to 3 or 4 years may be required to achieve the learning outcomes when undertaken as part of an Apprenticeship or Traineeship)

- lead WHS risk management
- lead initial response and investigate WHS incidents
- lead the development and use of WHS risk management tools
- manage WHS consultation and participation practices

Upon successful completion of all learning activities and assessments for this course, learners will be awarded a nationally recognised qualification in BSB51319 Diploma of Work Health and Safety or a Statement of Attainment for the competencies they have completed.
This course has a standard enrolment fee of $6,500 per person.
Funding may be available for eligible Apprentices and Trainees who are Full Time Employees (and have been employed for less than 3 months) or Part Time Employees (working a minimum of 21 hours a week and have been employed for less than 12 months). Contact our team for more information.
